the long and the short of it

Posted on September 27, 2013 at 11:10 AM Comments comments (63)
I wish to dispel the myth that I don't like short hair-short hair can look great on the right person. However, a rather portly middle aged  lady came in yesterday demanding that I "shave off" her hair at the back,and when I told her that I wasn't happy about doing that, she stormed off and told me that she was going to announce on facebook that I refused to style her hair the way that she wanted.
   I am proud to announce that I always try and find a flattering, soft and feminine style for my clients,whether long or shorter hair.

It's been two weeks since I applied for Listed Building consent(to put up a sign) and I'm still waiting for any response from Wiltshire Council-hurry up please-people want to know where I am! I had a lady book in last week who had been looking for me for over 6 months-I know it's The Secret Salon,but that's taking it too far -ciao Tony x

two weeks on

Posted on July 1, 2013 at 3:29 AM Comments comments (28)
two weeks on and it seems like I haven't stopped. It's great to have a shop front; I've had my first "walk in " client and several other passer -by's who picked up my cards or flyers in the outside passageway-not to mention the lady who came in asking about permanent hair straightening. The conversation went like this;
Client "Do you do permanent hair straightening?"
Me-"yes, I do a no heat system that lasts about six months, after which time you need to retouch the new hair at the roots or let it gradually grow out"
Client-"oh no,I don't want that system; I want my hair to be permanently straight!"
     No amount of explanation on my part could get it through to this lady that the new hair growing back would be curly.

I'm looking forward to a couple days off over Easter as I've had a really busy few days.I went to London this week for a colouring course at the International L'Oreal Academy to attend a course on Balayage-the latest hair colouring technique originally from Los Angeles and now taken up at the Paris Spring fashion shows-more about that later.

pesky pixies

I recently asked one of my new clients what the inspiration was for her short haircut.She told me that she had been having her hair cut in a "pixie" style for many years. I told her that I thought those styles were more suited to pixies ! We are now letting her hair grow to a softer, fuller shape, better suited to her features.
